We could not be more pleased with the kitchen floor plan and cabinets that Ben designed and built for us. Ben listened to our needs and used his experience to collaborate with us to create a beautiful and practical cabinet solution that we really enjoy. He patiently helped us avoid some blunders that we would have hated and add some simple improvements, that we never would have thought of, but now can’t live without. Ben is a true craftsman and until you see his cabinets, you can’t appreciate the small details and artistry of his work. Each time I look at the cabinets more closely and as we have used them over time now, we continue to find examples of little things that he did that add to their aesthetic appeal and functionality; grains are perfectly matched, finishes are rich and warm, joints are equal and even, hardware is solid and reliable, drawers are deep and tipped with hardwood for durability, kick plates are designed to make it easy to sweep and on and on. Ben’s work was done on time and on budget and we are thrilled with our decision to work with him. We have lifetime heirloom furniture not just cabinetry. Take the time to compare his work with others, and you will be hard pressed to find an equal.
My experience of a kitchen remodel was worth every inconvenience I had to go through. I was tired of living with a poor designed, cheaply constructed kitchen and I knew it was time to make a change. The kitchen we were living with was becoming smaller by the minute, and I knew that either the kitchen had to go or we had to go.
In making the choice of who would design my new kitchen, it wasn’t a hard decision in choosing Ben Blackwelder. I knew of the exceptional craftsmanship in his custom made cabinetary, and loved his work. At first, I did not call him because I did not think I could afford him. I had called other companies specializing in kitchens, but they lacked a quality of pinpointing what I desired, a beautifully designed and a quality made kitchen. My truest desire was to have a white kitchen, while not sacrificing the quality to have it. I was out walking one day and ran into the Caldwell Family who had recently hired Ben to do their new kitchen and they told me to give Ben a call and see what he thought he could do for my kitchen.
When Ben showed up and could see my flawed kitchen, he instantly became my favorite because he knew how to create the perfect design for my limited space, and he did not try and talk me out of a white kitchen stating as the other companies put it, that the cost would go way up if I intended to have the cabinets painted. Ben was able to give me a quote on the cost of his work and it fell perfectly into my budget. I could not have ben happier at that point knowing I was going to have a kitchen done by Ben Blackwelder!
Every step of the process from his 1st visit to the end of the remodel was professional, timely, and should I say a lot of fun! Ben allowed me to ask any question I needed, access to his high tech shop where he creates and constructs his cabinets, and Ben in my estimation is by far one of the most talented in his field.
